Chairpersons' Message

With great anticipation and enthusiasm, we welcome you to the 5th International Conference on Electrolysis (ICE 2025), which will be held in our beautiful city of Freiburg, Germany. Building on the success of our previous events in Denmark, Norway, the USA, and South Africa, ICE 2025 will continue to provide a platform for advancing research, innovation, and industrial applications in water electrolysis. We aim to uphold the strong technical focus on water electrolysis established in previous conferences, offering a platform for all related technologies.

We are delighted to be coming together at a time when the global shift towards sustainable energy systems is accelerating, wind and solar installation rates are growing rapidly and the overall integration of all components, for example through sector coupling, is becoming increasingly important. Electrolysis remains central to this vision, as it allows sustainable hydrogen production and thus enables the decarbonization of all sectors on the basis of a hydrogen-based economy.

We cordially invite you to contribute to the continued success of the ICE conference series. Your insights and engagement are key to the success of this exceptional conference series, and we are committed to creating an environment at ICE 2025 that fosters fruitful exchange and international collaboration. We will put together a varied and exciting program having enough time for direct exchange and networking. Additional workshops, guided tours to our laboratories, gala dinner and excursions into the surrounding area as the nearby Black Forest will round off the program.
